Car exhibition project in Kermanshah
The project site is surrounded on one side by a 24-meter street and on the other side by an 8-meter alley, creating two champers. Originally, the land was residential, but with the transformation of the street into one of the main arteries of the city, the land use could be changed to commercial. Therefore, through negotiations with the municipality, the client was able to obtain a 100% density on the ground floor and 60% on the mezzanine level. The volume obtained, according to municipal regulations, was prosaic and inefficient for commercial use.
Subsequently, the space lost due to the 60% density on the first floor was converted into an atrium inside the project. However, high density on the upper floors should be less than on the ground floor. Therefore, the cylindrical form obtained on the first floor leaned back, reducing the high density and getting closer to the initial concept. Finally, we used horizontal and diagonal lines for the facade.
Considering the commercialization of the project and the client’s occupation as an importer of luxury cars, it was decided to design a car showroom on the ground floor , along with a place for contract
signings and meetings on the first floor, and also a sports club in the basement.
The entrance to the exhibition is from the main street, and the sports club is located at the end of a 6-meter alley.
The main idea of the project was inspired by its primary use as a car exhibition, and all other spaces were shaped around it.
Project idea:
With the invention of cars and transportation vehicles, humans could reach the farthest points in the shortest possible time, meaning human speed has increased. The forms of ships, trains, and airplanes are changing at an amazing speed, aiming for faster access. Using soft forms with minimal air resistance are characteristics of these designs.
In architecture, we can also show speed and movement by using horizontal lines and aerodynamic forms. For this purpose, we transformed all sharp corners into curves and used glass for the exhibition space and horizontal lines for the administrative floor that turned into soft lines. We considered service areas and facilities and used glass and shiny metal for facade coverage along with linear lights. In interior design, we
emphasized the connection between interior and exterior spaces and used vibrant colors.
